Columbia, MO- The Child Development Center (CDC) at First Baptist Church announces Misty Phillips, MSW, MBA as its new Executive Director. Phillips is an educator, social worker and a member of First Baptist Church. She has worked in education and service-oriented agencies for more than 18 years including overseeing the implementation of the online developmental screening tool, Ages and Stages, serving the state of Missouri. Phillips is passionate about the integration of social-emotional development in early childhood and breaking down barriers to provide access to resources that support higher education attainment. Phillips serves as the co-chair of the Women’s Network Mentoring Committee, is a board member of Safe Families for Children of Mid-Missouri, serves on the First Baptist Church Finance Committee, and serves on the Statewide Kinship Committee which is focused on supporting children being raised by relatives or other kinship.
The Child Development Center at First Baptist Church is located at 1112 E. Broadway and opened in 1969 with the purpose of providing a high-quality preschool education for all children no matter their religious belief, ethnic background, gender or sexual identity, or socio-economic status.
