for Small Businesses

Branding for small businesses doesn’t end with a new logo. The overall look, design, images and (maybe most importantly) voice of your business across all media is vitally important for consumer trust.

Logos and Consistency

Contrary to what some believe, creating a logo should be a long and involved process. A good logo starts with a great team exploring all the possible options. Some of the best logo ideas come out of a passing comment during a brainstorming session that would not have been thought of during a hasty execution. Don’t underestimate the power of a good, long brainstorm.

When creating a logo, we include at least three options.

1. Safe – This option may sound dull, but it can be a better fit for your company than something bold. Many companies want to portray confidence and familiarity, and that’s ok.

2. Middle Ground – Halfway between safe and bold is where most companies typically find themselves. However, the final choice is dependent on the company’s brand and voice.

3. Bold – These will wow you, inspire you and maybe confuse you. Companies with a strong personality and an urge to break the mold will gravitate toward this option.

Adjust and Expand

The most productive portion of the logo creation process is the second draft. That is when all involved are able to really dig into any comments and adjust the logo to perfection.

Set the Guidelines

Finally, after a logo is completed and approved, we strongly suggest making a Logo Usage Guide. This will create a set of rules that all vendors, media and you yourself follow.

A usage guide assures that a logo reads well on video, print and digital formats.
